LAW Partnership is advising telecommunications giant Celcom Axiata on their recent acquisition of Infront Consulting Group as part of Celcom’s plans to strengthen cloud and digital capabilities in Malaysia, supported by an enhanced focus on Microsoft technologies. The acquisition of Infront aspires to complement Celcom’s recent affiliation with Microsoft in Azure cloud services.
The acquisition will provide an opportunity for Celcom to “effectively compete” in offering Azure cloud services and solutions to the Malaysian market, underpinned by Infront’s InSuite offerings that provide operational efficiency tools to help businesses accelerate growth.
According to Celcom CEO Idham Nawawi, “by leveraging on the strengths of both companies with cloud technology, SMEs will soon be able to have access to an affordable one-stop digital solutions kit for all their business functions.”
Selangor-based Infront is a cloud capabilities and expertise consulting company. The technology consulting company is built upon three main service pillars – cloud adoption consulting; application and security managed services; and data and artificial intelligence (AI) development.
Infront will provide Celcom with deep technical system integration, development, and sales capabilities, assisting towards providing local delivery strengths in cloud services and solutions through this acquisition.
Commenting on this venture, Infront Managing Director Raymond Chou added, “all businesses need to take advantage of technology to push ahead in the new wave of commerce and the aligned vision of both Celcom and Infront to bring more efficiency in business growth to our customers was the key factor in this venture.”
The counsel leading the transaction are LAW Partnership Head of Corporate, M&A and Commercial Raphael Tay, supported by Associate Shivani Sivanesan.
