Yun Jin is a Partner with the Dispute Resolution and Arbitration (DR) and Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Groups of the firm.

Yun Jin has experience in assisting in contentious IP work, particularly in the enforcement of IP rights. He has coordinated and executed several criminal raids and enforcement exercises with the authorities for trademark infringement and copyright matters and has assisted in regional anti-counterfeiting programmes. Yun Jin has advised on various internet infringement matters involving the illegal dissemination of copyrighted content and the sale of counterfeit goods online. He has also assisted a multinational conglomerate in the enforcement of its trademark and copyright rights against multiple infringers both online and offline.

In the field of dispute resolution, he has assisted in the execution of a court order against former employees of an information technology solution company for, amongst others, conspiracy, unlawful interference with trade, and breach of employment contracts. He assisted a leading international offshore oilfield service provider in pursuing a civil claim for breach of fiduciary duties, fraud, and negligence of its former directors. He has handled court proceedings including injunctions, summary judgment, striking out applications, winding-up petitions, garnishee proceedings, and security for costs involving multinational companies. In addition, he has garnered ample experience in handling mediation and arbitration. Yun Jin has also acted as a court-appointed supervising solicitor in the enforcement of Anton Piller Orders.

A graduate of Northumbria University, Newcastle UK, Yun Jin is highly proficient in both spoken and written in English and Malay languages. He is also conversant in Cantonese. He is admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Malaysia since year 2015.

Assisted in client training for the largest mobile network operator in Malaysia and for a Finnish multinational telecommunication company
Assisted in data breach investigations for a large telecommunications company, including providing advisory on communications with regulatory authorities, highlighting the risks and exposure to the Board of directors, preparing a thorough report on the legal gaps in the data protection and data security processes and policies of the company
Assisted in data protection and cybersecurity advisory to multi-national clients including the largest toy company in the world, the largest vendor of computer software in the world, a global luxury group based in Paris specialising in fashion, leather goods and jewellery, an American publicly traded internet domain registrar and web hosting company and a travel online booking platform headquartered in Hong Kong, and one of the largest ride-hailing companies in the world
Assisted in drafting and reviewing Privacy Policies including revamping the privacy policies of employees, customers, visitors, and suppliers of the largest mobile network provider in Malaysia
Assisted with the data privacy due diligence on compliance with ISO 27001:2013 certification for one of the world’s largest global logistics company
Co-ordinated and executed a criminal raid with law enforcement officers for trademark infringement of sports apparel
Assisted a renowned food-grade aluminium foil manufacturer in a regional anti-counterfeiting programme
Advised on various Internet infringement matters involving the illegal dissemination of copyrighted content and the sale of counterfeit goods over the Internet
Assisted several global brand names in luxury skincare and cosmetics in a joint enforcement exercise in relation to the production of counterfeit cosmetic products at a local wholesale mall
Assisted a global brand name in luxury wines and spirits in a series of enforcement exercises in relation to trademark infringement, passing-off, breach of undertaking and unlawful interference with trade
Advised a collective group of luxury fragrances in orchestrating an intricate lockdown raid of a shopping mall in an enforcement action against multiple counterfeiters
Created and executed several anti-counterfeiting strategies against the sale and distribution of counterfeit products over the Internet in Malaysia and regionally
Advised a Japanese battery manufacturer in successfully invalidating and expunging a substantially similar trademark in Malaysia on the basis that it was, amongst others, obtained by way of fraud
Advised a client specialising in motor accessories on an online programme to monitor counterfeits across various online distribution channels in Malaysia and implemented effective takedown procedures of infringing IP content from the Internet
Advised one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies in a regional anticounterfeiting exercise which involved the successful execution of raids across the region
Advised a global conglomerate specialising in water, fluid, thermal management and equipment protection in a copyright suit
